James Moloney

All about James ...

Favourite bands/artists

I don't really have a favourite band as I could never understand a slavish devotion to whatever output a group of musicians decided to sell the public! Therefore if I like the tune, the song, the sound I will buy it. This means anything from jazz through world music pop rock and the rest. Although I have in a previous life been accused of "If it ain't 60's it ain't worth....." I leave the rest to your imagination. Anyway my collection ranges from the 40s to today and most genres except for (particularly) one ... later.

Favourite singles/tracks

The Undertones - Teenage Kicks.

Favourite albums

Again none particular but if I were to examine my collection and go beyond U2 and the Stereophonics (as I've done Top Twenty Shows on both) and skirting quickly past Various - that famous geezer - I would probably find my biggest collection to be Chris Rea or Al Stewart, even though I've probably never played them on Sunday Breakfast. Perhaps I'm a music chameleon ... I am however liking Twenty One, Day & Age, Only by the Night and the Script - but Val Doonican's Greatest is still calling - lol.

Favourite books

1984 and Catcher in the Rye ... anything by Tom Wolfe prior to him tending slightly downhill first with The Bonfire of the Vanities ... sadly nowadays I get to read mostly the vast works of James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Jeffery Deaver ... I do enjoy crime novels ..!

Favourite TV and films

TV: Mostly I am locked into CBeebies ... Big Cook Little Cook being good for culinary tips and CITV's Pokemon for how to run fast in the London marathon without training. When the telly's available I've been known to watch Spooks and Hustle, Minder, Desperate ..., Heroes but probably most consistently Top Gear and factual programmes that (mostly) don't involve either gardening or DIY.

Films: The Shawshank Redemption, American Graffitti, The Commitments, Thank You for Smoking, Meet the Fokkers, and The Pope of Greenwich Village - see, I knew Mickey Rourke would make good!

One other thing I love

Beer!

One thing I really hate

Drum n Bass ... sorry!
