Brentwood Town set for promotion

Brentwood Town is set for promotion after an excellent season which sees them at the top of their league.

“The Blues”, who are based at The Brentwood Centre, have won 21 of their 28 games played to date, seeing them six points clear of nearest rivals Romford, with two games in hand.

Promotion to the Ryman’s Division One North League will see the blues facing teams such as Harlow Town, Enfield Town and Canvey Island.

The Blues are hoping that their promotion will help attract extra interest from supporters and businesses that would be looking to sponsor the club.

Keith Woodcock, chairman of Brentwood Town FC, said that promotion to the Ryman Division One North League is a “fantastic achievement” and is “excited to be able to play at a higher league.”

Woodcock said their aim would be to try and emulate the success of fellow Essex club, Hornchurch, who were promoted to the Ryman league only last year and are now top of the league and set for promotion again into the Ryman League Premier Division.

Brentwood Town recently had the FA confirm that their grounds were suitable for promotion. They had to build a new stand, seating 150 people and a new terrace for a further 150 people standing. As well as this they also had to provide extra toilet facilities and fencing around the ground.

Brentwood faces Clapton at home tomorrow evening with kick off at 7.45pm, then away at Rush Green on Saturday when they go up against runners up Romford.

The Essex Senior League Cup Final is on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May 2007, at the Oakside Stadium, Brentwood will play Romford again, before receiving the Senior League Trophy.
