Weekend Sunday Breakfast

My first full three hour programme on Phoenix98fm was on 16th March 2008. As you will know this is almost 24 hours before St Patricks Day!!!!!! On this tenuous basis I set out to play a selection of Irish tracks through the programme. Promised at 7am and seamlessly woven (or in the case of the Sultans of Ping knitted) into the fabric of the programme were as follows :- Phil Lynott – Old town Ronan Keating – Life is a Rollercoaster Boomtown Rats – I Don’t Like Mondays The Sultans Of Ping – Where’s me jumper Thin Lizzy – The Boys are Back in Town 7.30 we did a popular classic – Air on a G String by Johann Sebastian Bach including some facts like Johann Sebastian Bach (b.Eisenach, 25 March 1685; d.Leipzig 28 July 1750) Eisenachs claim to fame being the production of the Opel Vectra , Corsa and Astra since 1991 Bach’s first wife, Maria Barbara, died in 1720. The couple had seven children. Soon afterwards he married Anna Magdalena, with whom he had another fourteen children. However, several of his children died young. Saved by Steve Mead from disaster at 2 minutes to eight by his exceptional choice of the Rakes ( I think) I continued 8.30 saw our What’s that Year ?– don’t beat about the bush – the clues being February 19 - The Delorean Car Factory in Belfast put into Receivership. Remember Back to the Future?? April 24 - The German Singer Nicole wins the Eurovision Song Contest for Germany with the song Ein Bisschen Frieden. December 26 - Time Magazines Man of the Year is given for the first time to a non – human The Computer. January 11 - Mark Thatcher son of the Prime Minister Margret Thatcher disappeared in the Sahara during the Paris Dakar rally. May 27 - Spurs win the FA cup beating QPR 1-0 in a replay. June 21 - Prince William is born. December 1 - Michael Jacksons Thriller is released. Tunes played were I’m A Wonderful Thing Baby _ Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Blancmange _ Living on the ceiling Duran Duran _ Save a Prayer The year of course ----------- 1982. Did you get it right??? Anyway following that pilot episode and hotter than Desperate Housewives series one of Weekend Breakfast with me starts on Sunday 30th March 2008 so be sure to put your clocks forward and don’t miss it!!!!!!!!!!
