Mysterious Mystery Jets in Swimming Pool????Sunday 6th April
I started the programme with The KLF featuring Tammy Wynette and Justified and Ancient. The feature running through the three hours this week was The Mystery Jets New CD/Download (I suppose you can’t say album anymore … can you????) called Twenty One. In my defence it has got a picture of a swimming pool and several Northern European males on the cover. The tracks I played were
Half in Love with Elizabeth
Two Doors Down
MJ
And the New single which is called Young Love and features
Laura Marling.
Essential Classics at 7.30 featured Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The piece I played was Eine Kleine Nacht Music ….. being a heavyweight composer and all there was so much stuff about him I had to condense it so here it is………….
Born: 27 January 1756
Birthplace: Salzburg, Austria
Died: 5 December 1791 (fever)
Best Known As: Composer of Eine kleine Nachtmusik
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of the heavyweights of classical music, generally placed in the top rank of composers along with Beethoven and Bach. Many consider Mozart to be the greatest composer of all time. He was a child prodigy who wrote his first symphony at age 8, then grew into a prolific adult who wrote over 600 pieces of music. Among his most famous works are Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music, 1787) and the operas Don Giovanni (1787) and Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute, 1791). Mozart died of a mysterious fever at age 35.
Of course there is a tenuous link with the eighties film Amadeus and hence with Falco and ‘Rock Me Amadeus’ which I played ay 7.40 to some acclaim!!!!!!! (or perhaps a muted WOW!)
At 8.30 then the question was would it be 40’s ,50’s, 60’s ,70’s, 80’s , 90’s or the Twenty First Century. As the 40’s and 50’s is the equivalent for me of a crawl through the attic to Clapham it was likely only to feature the last 4.8 decades!!!
And it did
A Selection of the Clues were
January 1 - Top of the Pops premiered on BBC television The London Daily Herald ceased publication to be replaced by The Sun. March 21 - For the first time in history, all Top Ten singles on the UK chart are by British acts. June 12 - Nelson Mandela and 7 others are sentenced to life imprisonment in South Africa, and sent to the Robben Island prison. February 7 - The Beatles arrive in the United States and are greeted by thousands of screaming fans at New York's Kennedy Airport. Two days later they performed on The Ed Sullivan Show, which breaks television ratings records The collection from the deep attic was (or Tunes Played were)…
Tell Me When The Applejacks
She’s Not There The Zombies
Can’t Buy Me Love The Beatles
As always we looked at the local papers between 8 and 9 and the nationals between 9 and 10 during this hour I am told I scratched my head a lot!!!!!!!! Particularly over two songs played just after 9………..So join me this Sunday for another thrilling instalment of the Natural History Museum where we will be describing ( who needs telly) live lizards and other reptiles.
C U Then
