April ShowersSunday April 27th 2008 Looking ahead for inspiration for this show I went to see Arsenal play more than a week before?????? Expensive inspiration. Having been calmed (by Dennis Rookard the previous Sunday Night) from a rant involving an Airport ( local ) and an Airline (Celtic!) I just mentioned it in passing as a minor irritation at 7.10……….The News was particularly ambitious!!!! The feature across the three hours this week was approximately as follows I featured artists due to appear in the top 20 shows coming up to July and you can find all the details at www.phoenixfm.com ,I featured Pink Floyd Marooned Meatloaf Heroes Oasis Don’t Look back in Anger The Beatles Something Also Blur (which it is ) and Fleetwood Mac!!! Get voting for your favourite artist and song NOW!!!! 7.30.1 As ever saw Essential Classics which is now a trademark of Sunday Breakfast . This week as it had been St Georges day on Wednesday I featured and English Composer William Walton with the Spitfire Prelude and Fuge which is actually two bits of music!!! William Turner Walton was born on 29 March 1902, in the industrial Lancashire town of Oldham. His father was the director of the local church choir, and by participation therein Walton became familiar with much of the standard choral repertoire, including Haydn's Creation and Handel's Messiah. Walton is also considered among the greatest of English film composers, including a noteworthy score to Henry V . An eminently congenial man, Walton lived the last half of his life on the tranquil Mediterranean island of Ischia. Between 8 and 9 I looked at the local weekly papers only interrupted at 8.30 by What Year Is It Anyway? . This featured Glenn Campbell and Bobby Gentry All I have to do is Dream Elvis The Wonder of You At this point I did wonder if the fact that Arsenal are currently playing this before their matches was a reason for their less than perfect form????? And finally Simon and Garfunkel Bridge Over Troubled Water Among the clues were April 1 President Richard Nixon signs the Public Health Cigarette Smoking Act into Law banning cigarette television ads in the US Apollo 13 was launched toward the Moon and two days later an oxygen tank in the spacecraft exploded forcing the crew to abort the mission and return in 14 days. The plight of astronauts Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swiggert is captured in the movie Apollo 13 Musical Changing Rooms at 9 featured ‘ Love me for a Reason’ by the Osmonds and Boyzone!!!!!!!Hmmmmm. The National Papers were between 9 and 10 and then it was Andrew!!!!!! Sunday Breakfast is back Next Sunday (Strangely). Til then on your bike………..whats this weeks feature then Moloney???????? I dunno but 9,000,000 bicycles sounds good Yeah until you have to name them!!!!!!! C U Sunday Moloney
