Viva La Vida ......... Lost on a train!!!!!!!Sunday June 15th 2008 This week through an act of extreme carelessness a series of papers with TOP SECRET on the front had been left on a train. The person who found them had handed them to the Independent on Sunday. They were given back on Friday 13th………are you suspicious??? Were they really top secret or did someone just fake them??????. A parallel example……. I , wearing a tuxedo and looking better than Sean Connery in Goldfinger recently lost my phone on the train between Shenfield and Liverpool Street. Shaken later but not stirred I was heartened to learn that the person who found it had not taken it to the KGB on the off chance that I had some important free phone numbers in it nor to the BBC!!!! but rather kindly dropped it at the lost property office at Gidea Park……… Thank you!( With suitable apologies to the Independent on any day , the Times and of course The Star……It’s my tan!!!!!!) Despite the trauma I gathered myself together sufficiently to feature the New Album By Coldplay. It’s called Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. At the time of writing Chris martin has walked out of two interviews where he has been quizzed on the meaning…….. I played Lost? Viva La Vida Violet Hill Life In Technicolour 42 My favourites ……………Violet Hill and Viva La Vida!!!!!!!!!!!! 7.30 I did essential classics. This week it was Pomp an Circumstance in honour of the Queens Birthday. Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 had its premiere, conducted by the composer, in Liverpool in October 1901, along with the more reserved No. 2, and the audience demanded two encores. No. 1 was dedicated to the Liverpool Orchestral Society. In 1902 the tune was recycled, in modified form, for the Land of Hope and Glory section of his Coronation Ode for King Edward VII. The words were further modified to fit the original tune, and the result has since become a fixture at the Last Night of the Proms, and an English sporting anthem. Edward Elgar was born on the 2nd of June1857 in the village of Lower Broadheath outside Worcester to William Elgar, a piano tuner and music dealer, and his wife Anne. He was the fourth of seven children. He was an Enlish Romantic Composer. 8 o’ clock to 9.15 really!
