Mojo and Change the GoalpostsSunday 21st June 2008-06-26 Having done the equivalent of a phD (is this correct ?????) of research into the subject and almost buying the magazine I decided that this was as good a week as any to feature the MOJO’s. We were subjected earlier in the week to various stories relating to this particular music extravaganza nevertheless it set a much higher standard than the competing ‘Paint Drying Championships’………I must admit I missed Big Brother whatever also!! Pillows & Prayers: Cherry Red Records 1981-1984 – One of my favourite tracks here was Tracey Thorn and Plain Sailing The MOJO Les Paul Award, 2008 goes to... John Martyn…….and I featured May You Never Song of the year nominees were I played it! The next category featured was The Breakthrough Act And The Winner Is... The Last Shadow Puppets I played … The Age of Understatement! And the final Category Featured was The MOJO Outstanding Contribution Award, 2008 goes to... Paul Weller And I played You do something to me. 7.30 Essential Classics This week Beethoven and trouble for me on the tongue tied front as my usually prolific language skills deserted me in favour of those of some kind of bumpkin!!!!!….. Anyway I played Fur Elise (and for those or you who think this is something hairy forget it!!) Anyway apparently nobody knows exactly why or for whom Beethoven wrote this hit from 1810. At 9am I payed lip service to musical location location location by playing essential a cover version of Ziggy Stardust and the original!!!!!!!However it was Bowie……. This week you can hear me twice as I first Chameleonlike take on Soul inspired on Saturday from 6 to 8……..watch me subsume to white socks ….but talc………..steady…the Bish is quite stresed so be gentle………….. then I’m back on Sunday for four hours!!!!!!!!!
