Mojo and Change the Goalposts

Sunday 21st June 2008-06-26

Having done the equivalent of a phD (is this correct ?????) of research into the subject and almost buying the magazine I decided that this was as good a week as any to feature the MOJO’s. We were subjected  earlier in the week to various stories relating to this particular music extravaganza nevertheless it set a much higher standard than the competing ‘Paint Drying Championships’………I must admit I missed Big Brother whatever also!!

Anyway to the programme!

I Featured across the three hours MOJO award winners

These were

The MOJO Catalogue Release of 2008 is... Pillows & Prayers:

Cherry Red Records 1981-1984 – One of my favourite tracks here was Tracey Thorn and Plain Sailing

The MOJO Les Paul Award, 2008 goes to... John Martyn…….and I featured May You Never

Song of the year nominees were

And the final Category Featured was

The MOJO Outstanding Contribution Award, 2008 goes to...

Paul Weller

And I played You do something to me.

7.30 Essential  Classics

This week Beethoven and trouble for me on the tongue tied front as my usually prolific language skills deserted me in favour of those of some kind of bumpkin!!!!!….. Anyway I played Fur Elise (and for those or you who think this is something hairy forget it!!) Anyway apparently nobody knows exactly why or for whom Beethoven wrote this hit from 1810.  He was a crucial figure in the transition between the classical and romantic eras. He Lived from Dec 1770 to March 1827.
