Saturday Breakfast Show - 28th June 2008

The Saturday Breakfast Show is a great way to start your weekend if you're looking to do something in the Brentwood and Billericay area - and beyond.

Listen out for those events and happenings in and around our district and quite often hear what they're about directly from the people who are involved.

Out and About with Phoenix FM is sponsored by Essex Farmers Markets and this week we heard from Judy who is opening her garden at Little Myles in Stondon Massey this Sunday (and again on Sunday 6th July). Judy and her husband have spent many years creating a wonderful space made up of may themes.

Admission is £3.50 for adults and £1.00 for children with proceeds supporting Saint Francis Hospice and the National Garden.

For more information call Judy on 01277 363 176.

Whilst in a flowery feel I also spoke to Doris Gower, who on this occasion was wearing just one of her many hats, that of the Secretary of the Shenfield Garden Society who were holding their Summer Show at the Ursline School in Queens Road.

The studio guests this week were four youngsters from drama group Young Expressions. They were putting on a production of Disney's Mulan and had already performed the night before but were all bright and bubbly despite having to get up early to be on Saturday Breakfast.

They had two more performances to do over the weekend. My thanks to Harry who played Muchu the Red Dragon, Camilla the Villain of the piece but affectionately know as 'Camilla The Hun', Bethan, who may just be in the chorus in this production but has her sights set on bigger things, and Harriet the star of the show, Mulan herself.

Keep listening to the Saturday Breakfast on Phoenix FM for news of their next production 'Beauty and the Beast'

The mystery voice this week was that of TV chef, Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall, who had been in the news during the week over his lost battle with Tesco's to improve the welfare standards for intensively farmed chickens.

Got an event coming up? Then let us know. Call 01277 849929 or email studio@phoenixfm.com with the details. Or better still, come along and tell everyone in Brentwood and Billericay about your event yourself - call or email to make it happen.
