Body Talk - 8th May

I had a very interesting chat with Steve Strong this evening, about karate and his experience in this field.  Steve is IAKSA Super League Grand Champion and Brirish Open Champion. He has been training since he was five years old, but don't let that put you off, it's never too late to start.

He currently teaches both children and adults with his own style of martial arts which he has developed over the years, and has tailored it to suit the way we live today. One of his specialities is working with children, and how they can channel their energy into something more positive. One of his many successes was working with a school bully, this child has now learned to control his anger which in turn has enabled him to live a much more fulfilling life.

Steve also told us about the classes he runs in children's self defence. Teaching children how to react if they are attacked on the street, for younger children how important it is to stay within a reasonable distance from their parents while out walking. He also teaches anti-abduction techniques for children. That might sound a bit OTT, but unfortunately it's a real threat in today's world.

Ladies, don't be put off if you have long nails (like mine), you don't need to cut them all off, Steve can get you a special pair of gloves to wear so you can still learn this increasingly important form of self defence.

To find out more about Steve's classes or if you'd like to organise a day in self defence, contact me at PhoenixFM and i'll pass your details on.
