CB November 12th 2008 (Diffusion Records special with The Valkarys and Obrigado)


On this week’s show we put the spotlight on emerging northern record label Diffusion Records. Established a few years ago as a springboard for up-and-coming bands, the label describes its mission statement as:


“Our label was created because we wanted to support the emerging artists who are looking for a break. It is composed of people dedicated to helping musicians and bands gain exposure to their fans and to the music industry. We want the artist to succeed and reach their goals and we will never ask anyone to compromise who they are or what they stand for. We want to build long term, lasting relationships with our artists and their fans.”

During the show we spoke to two bands with new singles out this month on Diffusion Records. First up was Edinburgh six-piece The Valkarys, whose new single Candy Girl is released on November 24th, and has been described as “like The Coral trying to mate with Scott Walker but falling out before they get to the bedroom.” The band can be seen playing the Hope & Anchor in Islington on the 18th. Next up was Obrigado from Keswick. Having gone through a number of line-ups and musical incarnations since forming in 2004, the band (another six-piece!) have spent much of the year touring the UK and release The Same Thing That Makes You Live on November 24th. Find them online at
