Body Talk - 30th December

Time again to make all of those new year's resolutions. Will you stick to them or are your good intentions doomed to failure?

The key to success is setting your goals within reach. Start by setting yourself something easily achievable, that will give you the spur that you need to keep going. One of the most popular things that we decide to do is to lose weight. Particularly after all of those lovely christmas goodies that we've been happily munching on.

Rather than going on a crash diet and feeling deflated after a few days when your willpower has weakened, try making a few changes to your diet that will be easy to maintain.

If youhave been overdoing it on the lattes, try replacing them with a lower calorie drink such as tea or coffee. This could save you up to 500 calories a day, and over three months up to 12lbs of fat!

Keep a food diary. Be aware of everything that you eat. How often do you eat something and not really taste it?

Try replacing a high calorie lunch or evening meal with a bowl of soup. It can be just as filling and good for you too.

Make sure you get plenty of sleep. If you sleep for less than five hours per night it could be slowing down your metabolism and causing you to gain pounds.

Have a very happy and healthy 2009.
