Eat My Reggae Lunch - John Brandler and Resolutions

I got to take over Eat My Lunch this week and it was tres fun!

On Thursday I spoke to Nutritionalist Sian Porter and Life Coach and Psychotherapist Christine Webber about new years resolutions and, more specifically, why we don't keep them.

Apparently new research shows that although two thirds of us make a resolution, half of us don't even expect to keep it. What's the point I ask!

In B-town 20% of people plan to do more exercise or join a gym and 27% intend to eat more healthily (aren't we a self conscious bunch - although Sian and Christine assure me that as an area we're more fit than most other region - whoop whoop!)

SO - if you are making/have made a resolution and actually want to keep it the best thing to do, according to the ol' experts, if keep it realistic and start off small - one bit at a time! AND make sure it's something you actually want to do otherwise where's the incentive to do it eh?

Is the recession riddled 2009 going to make it more difficult for us to keep to our resolutions? NO!! No Excuses People! In fact, apparently it will be easier because we're all in the same boat and the trick is to have a resolution buddy - someone to go to the gym with, or eat heathily with... group resolution love!

NOW onwards and upwards to Friday, when I was joined in the studio by John Brandler who has the jammy and prestigious honour of owning one of only three pictures which exist in the whole world of the lady who could bring down the entire monarchy

Hannah Lightfoot was, legend has it, the legitimate wife of George III and together they had several legitimate children who were banished to various places across the globe and her identity was hastily covered up even after it came to a court case a hundred years ago - all evidence of her existence and affiliation with the King was denied. Which is quite contentious particularly as one of the most famous and talented artists of the time painted her portrait - which brings us back to John and his art collection. Pop in and see him, and the picture and he'll give you the full history!

Here's a sneaky glimpse of it though:

I'm not up on my Disco, so sadly had to neglect Mike's daily midday ten minute disco in favour of some Reggae love which was loverrrrrly! Over the course of the week we played (in no particular order):

Young, Gifted and Black - Bob & Marcia
Israelites - Desmond Dekker & The Aces
Rudy, A Message To You - Dandy Livingstone
Liquidator - The Harry J. All Stars
Love of the Common People - Nicky Thomas
Let Your Yeah Be Yeah - The Pioneers
Black and White - Greyhound
Suzanne Beware of the Devil - Dandy Livingstone
