Body Talk - 27th January

After all of those new year's diets have failed yet again, what now? Latest advice is to forget about the diet and think about eating sensibly instaed. The mere word 'diet' puts the fear of god in most of us. Try thinking instead about healthy foods that you can eat and stick to those, and let your weight take care of itself.

Most of our diets are littered with junk foods, and it's those that pile on the pounds. Cut out all the unhealthy stuff and stick to the more natural options.

Think about all of the health benefits that this new regime will give. Better skin, more enrgy and a leaner body.

Concentrate on losing just a little at a time, that way you won't feel as though you're fighting a losing battle. Just a pound at a time is enough to make you feel better and keep you going.

Although you shouldn't over indulge, just a few nuts a day will reap benefits. Walnuts , chestnuts and brazil nuts are at the top of the nutritional ratings. Nutmeg, cloves and ginger are all good for keeping those winter colds at bay. Also, so are dates and figs, although again, these need to be eaten in moderation. Cinnamon is great for stimulating the circulation and can be used to relieve acing muscles.

If all else fails, then treat yourself to a relaxing Indian Head Massage. It can relieve sinus congestion, improves the circulation, relieves pain and stiffness in the neck and shoulders, and just promotes that feel good factor that we all need from time to time.
