Birthday Monday Classics

Birthday Monday Classics

Following the 2nd birthday celebrations of Phoenix 98FM, Monday Classics
featured music from notable composers with birthdays this week:
Josef Haydn (1732 - 1809) and Sergey Rachmaninov (1873 - 1943), and we heard
music from contemporary classical crossover group Royksopp.

We also heard anything that could be a 'classic' from Vivaldi to Bruce Hornsby,
from Finzi to K-ci & JoJo.

In the music news, I mentioned news of a club/bar in New York called Le Poisson Rouge
where classical music is mixed with every stlye imaginable to make classical music 'fun',
and we talked about the lady in Gloucstershire who has made the news this week by being
asked to pay a £99 Performing Rights Society License because she plays classical music
to the horses in her stables from a radio station!

The round up of the Phoenix FM Events guide is below, and I managed to get my way
onto Holly's Drive show and Jules the cake maker's show too!

Here is your Monday Classics playlist for tonight:

'Tell me it's real' - K-ci & JoJo

The Long Play (here on in to be known as the 'LP')'Allegro Molto' from Symphony No. 2 in E minor - Sergey Rachmaninov

'Allegro' from Concerto in C for Recorder and Orchestra - Antonio Vivaldi

'I will walk with you' - Bruce Hornsby and the Range

'Toccata in 7' - John Rutter

The 7.30 Wind Down'Ave Maria' as performed by the Spiritual Angels

'Carol' from Five Bagatelles - Gerald Finzi

'Aurora' - Mike Oldfield

'Finale:Presto' - Symphony no 85 - Josef Haydn

The Film Classic
'Bright Eyes' - as performed by Stephen Gately

'Allegro Molto' - Concerto in C for Recorder and Orchestra - Antonio Vivaldi

'In Space' - Royksopp

And it was 8 O'clock and Four Days 'til the weekend, which as I write this,
is getting closer...

Those were your Monday Classics, catch you same time, same place, next week.
