Mr Sameh Hindi, consultant eye surgeon from Spire Hartswood Hospital

This week on Bodytalk Holly was joined in the studio by Mr Sameh Hindi who is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Spire Hartswood Hospital to speak about the serious eye disease Glaucoma which affects a massive one in 50 of us!

The main thing to be aware of is that Glaucoma is symptomless and if left undetected can cause blindness, so to be safe the best thing you can do is have an eye test every year to ensure that it's caught at the earliest stages.

There's nothing you can do in terms of diet, vitamins or exercise to minimise your chances of getting it but some are more prone to it than others as it tends to be a hereditary problem.

The good news is that if caught, thanks to major advances in eye surgery and screening programmes, it doesn't have to be a major problem and either be treated with eye drops or surgery.

Thanks again to Mr Hindi for joining me and make sure you tune into Bodytalk, in association with Spire Hartswood Hospital, next Tuesday from 7pm.
