Chelmsford Sinfonietta Festival at Chelmsford Cathedral - Thursday 7th - Saturday 9th May

And it's a big thank you to Tim Carey, artistic director of the Chelmsford Sinfonietta Festival
for coming in to Phoenix FM tonight to talk about the three days of music at Chelmsford Cathedral
this coming Thursday - Saturday, hosted by Chelmsford's newest professional orchestra,
the Chelmsford Sinfonietta.

This will be the second Festival, and has filled the gap left by the former Chelmsford Cathedral
Festival that ended in 2007.

The events are varied, and Tim explained a little about the musical content of each concert
and the percussion workshop for primary schools.

Details of the concerts are below in the Classic Events Guide.

We had a 'Dance Music' theme going through the show, though we didn't get very far with that,
so there's a feature to return in due course!

Details of the concerts are below in the Classic Events Guide...

And here is your Bank Holiday Monday playlist:

Ocean Drive - Lighthouse Family

Overture to the Marriage of Figaro - Mozart
(Played by the Chelmsford Sinfonietta, not literally, but on CD!)

Sarabande from Orchestral Suite no 2 - J S Bach

Gavotte from Orchestral Suite no 3 - J S Bach

Gigue from Orchestral Suite no 3 - J S Bach

The Wind Down
En Priere - Gabriel Faure - as performed by Tamsin Birch

Sing For Ever - Libera

Minuet from Music for the Royal Fireworks - G F Handel

Concert study no 3 'Toccatina' - Nikolai Kapustin
as played by Benjamin Grosvenor* see below

Un bal (Symphonie Fantastique) - Hector Berlioz

Thanks again to Tim Carey for coming in, and, hope you all have a good week.
See you next time
