Rotary Club Spring Classical Concert

When I went along to the Rotary Club Spring Classical Concert last Saturday night at St Thomas' Church
I found myself hooked to every note by the quality of the performances.

Featuring the Cantabile String Quartet (courtesy of London Guildhall School of Music & Drama), The Becket Singers
and young local musicians Oliver Farrant, Harry O'Keefe and Martin Wray, with accompanist David Silkoff, we heard
music from Mozart, Corelli, Bach, Elgar, Gershwin, Joplin , Dvorak, Haydn, Beethoven and Stanford.

The three soloists dazzled us with polished professional and engaging performances that took the music off the page
and sent it right down the church.

Bravo!

The concert also raised funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Saint Francis Hospice.

And tonight on Phoenix FM, here was what I played in the seven o'clock hour.

The Non-Classical Classic
Mandolin Rain - Bruce Hornsby

Air from Water Music - Handel

Overture to the Marriage of Figaro - Mozart
as played by the Chelmsford Sinfonietta

'You're so cool' - Tyler Rix

played by Robert Poyser, recorded live in Brentwood Cathedral

Toccata in A - Paradies
arranged by the David Rees Williams Trio

The Film Classic

Never say goodbye - Hayley Westenra
