The Saturday Kickabout - First Ashes Test

This weekend on the Saturday Kickabout Dan Westram kept an eye on the weather at the Swalec Stadium as the Welsh rain continued in the first Ashes Test. England were 20-2 - 219 runs behind Australia when the day's action was finished prematurely. England will have to bat-out the day.

John Walford from Brentwood Cricket Club had a busy couple of days as they beat current holders Colchester in the Essex twenty20 cup on Friday, the current champions going down by 4 wickets with 10 balls to spare. The action on Saturday saw Brentwood v Wansted lose out to the weather as the match was abandoned after tea - the local side still top of the league after getting 6 points.

It seemed like Australia day as Mark Webber claimed his first ever pole position in one of the most exciting qualifying sessions in this year's F1 season. Two British drivers are in the top five places for the German Grand Prix - Jenson Button in 3rd and World Champion Lewis Hamilton in 5th.

As the football transfer window is open Dan gave us the latest news, with Manchester City talking figures of up to £40 million for John Terry and Chelsea replying that the England captain is not for sale at any price.
Other news featured included the local baseball with Brentwood Stags and the friendly football fixtures.
