The Breakfast Show - You 'Trickster'

Photobucket

This morning I was joined in the studio by Andy Long and Tracey Lilley to talk about 'Trickster The Musical,' which will be performed in Brentwood on 24th and 25th September.

‘Trickster’ aims to raise the level of awareness of the issue of distraction burglary and dishonest doorstep traders. Using music, comedy and lively storytelling, it provides advice and builds confidence without raising the fear of crime. ‘Trickster’ will unite the audience against the bogus caller, help build resilience on the doorstep and encourage the wider community to look out for and protect those who may be at risk.

‘Trickster’ is performed by the Solomon Touring Theatre Company and follows the story of George, an elderly war veteran who falls victim to a distraction burglary.  The musical then explains how George comes to terms with being conned and how he then takes action in order to cope.
By presenting this information through performance and involving the audience in a sing-a-long, the message about distraction burglary can be put across in a lively way, without scaring those coming to watch.
‘Trickster’ is going to be performed at The Nightingale Centre, Pastoral Way, Warley on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th September 2009. There will be two performances each day at 10am and 2.00pm. The tickets are free and transport can be arranged, if required.

Those who attend will also have the opportunity to get information and advice from other organisations such as Brentwood Borough Council, Essex Police, Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, Careline, South Essex Health Care and many more.
If you would like to see one of the performances please register your interest by calling Andy Long at Brentwood Borough council on 01277 312563. We would recommend that you contact us early to avoid disappointment.

One of the songs from the musical -

DOORSTEP DITTY

You can knock my door
You can ring my bell
I'm not going to answer
Even if you yell

I may be independent
I may live alone
But you're not welcome
In my home
You can tell me stories
You can tell me lies
But being 'wised up'
can see through your disguise

You may try and trick me
With tales that just aren't true
But I am wiser now
can see just who is who

I'm going to put on the chain
Ask for ID
Be on my guard
You're not getting me
