"The Soldiers" release debut album "Coming Home"

The Soldiers are about to make history by becoming the first group of serving, British soldiers to have a hit album. Since being approached last year to record a mix of original material and classic covers, then signed to a major label on the strength of soon-to-be first single “Coming Home”, the trio have had to squeeze studio sessions in between their respective duties at home and abroad.

Although serving as soldiers is their day job, music has always been an integral part of the male vocal group’s lives and these real life heroes are set to win over the public’s affections with their uplifting interpretations of powerful anthems.

I had the opportunity to interview Sergeant Richie Maddocks  who is from Oldham, Greater Manchester. A very pleasant man who served for 21 years since the age 16 as a Medical Assistant in the Army and singer for the troops. During his his time served he traveled throughout Europe, Canada, Cyprus, Finland, and the Faulkland Islands. Richie served in the Golf War and was awarded the Golf War medal. He says he is proud of being part of the British Army and would do it all again.

The youngest and most recognised member of the group is 24 year old Lance Corporal Ryan Idzi, who appeared on XFactor and made it through boot camp. Danni Minogue described him as gorgeous and went on to say that Ryan's good looks are sure to melt the hearts of millions.

Last but not least is golf war veteran Sergant major Gary Chilton, born in Hampshire and stationed at the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band in Catterick, North yorkshire since 2006. gary has performed around the world including a special show with jools holland at Twickenham. Gary too has faught in the Gulf War and was presented with the Golf medal by HRH The Prince of Wales upon return.

Producer Nick Patrick who has produced Rusell Watson, Katherine Jenkins and who has helped to sell over 40 million albums and collectively win 7 Classical Brit awards said " having worked with some of the UK's biggest classical recording artists, Gary, Richie and Ryan's voices are some of the genuine heartfelt voices I've heard in a long time".
