Guests Galore

Week two was just as crazy as the first with Guests Galore. Another fun week as we head towards the dreaded 'C' Day!!!!

On Tuesday 8th December the NHS put on a pamper day for people who suffer from heart conditions to find out what they could do to improve services in the future. Emily Hughes chatted to me about the Pamper day on Thursday and said that it had been a real success and she plans to do more in the future. If you didn't get a chance to give your feedback on Tuesday the contact details are as follows.  or phone 01268 245711

I also spoke to Amanda Golding the Communications Manager for about the variety of fair trade and ethical products available for people who want a green Christmas this year.

The top ten movies in the middle of the week were:

  1. Twighlight

  2. Paranormal Activity

  3. Christmas Carol

  4. 2012

  5. Law Abiding Citizen

  6. Nativity

  7. Harry Brown

  8. Up

  9. De Dana Dan

  10. A Serious Man

Friday was my busiest day of the week with a world record of three guests in half an hour(only at phoenix – and that is no guarantee!!)

They included:

Paul Lewis - Talking about the Bird Sanctuary and the benefit it will bring to the local community and environment

Reg Straw – From the Rotary club chatting about the events that the club support in particular the children's trip to the Theatre to see the Twits.

And Mark brought in Two councillors after the unveiling of a plaque in the High Street to declare it open.

And not forgetting Pete with the weekend fixtures:

Football - Game of the weekend - Liverpool 1 Arsenal 2.

Rugby Union - Round 3 of the Heineken Cup - Wins for Bath, Sale, London Irish and Northampton.

Cricket - England drew their final tour game in South Africa before the first test match against South Africa begins on Wednesday.

Snooker UK Championship at Telford - Semi Final, John Higgins beat Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ding Junhui beat Stephen Macguire. Ding Junhui won 10-8 in the final.

Cycling Olympics events altered for 2012 - Of the 10 events, there are now 5 each for men and women. Individual Pursuit has been taken out for the 2012 Olympics, so Bradley Wiggins and Rebecca Romero won’t be able to defend their titles, but the changes did benefit Victoria Pendleton as she can now compete for 3 separate golds, just like Sir Chris Hoy did in Beijing.

Finally, Ryan Giggs was the surprise winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, beating favourite Jenson Button into 2nd and athlete Jessica Ennis into 3rd. England’s Ashes winning men’s cricket side won team of the year and golfer Seve Ballesteros picked up the lifetime achievement award
