28th January 2010 I'll be there for you – The Rembrandts (Friends Theme Tune)

Today I was joined in the studio by a local foster carer who was sharing her experiences of fostering a 6 year old boy. Essex County council is constantly searching for homes to house children that have been put in their care. Ages can range from new born to late teens, with some children staying in foster care throughout their childhood. Each day four to five children are placed in care with a vast majority returning home within six months.

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer here are some things you need to know:

  • You need to be over 21
  • You have some experience of children and/or young people.

  • You are married, single or living with a partner of either gender.

  • You have a healthy lifestyle

  • You or your partner are available to care for a child before and after school

  • You have time to attend daytime training and support groups, to meet with social workers and to be there during the school holidays or when the child/ren is/are off sick

  • You have sufficient space to provide a bedroom for the child you foster

  • Everyone in your household wants to make it work

The next Fostering Event is:

Tuesday 23rd February, 7pm - The Basildon Centre, St Martins Square, Basildon, SS14 1DL

In local Sport, the Angling season is now under way, Contact Basildon Angling Centre Ltd on 01268 520144 for more details. It took less than two hours for The Rocket to defeat Stuart Bingham in the first round of the Welsh Open with the final score being 5 -1, better luck next time Stuart. However defending Champion and fellow Essex boy Ali Carter sailed through his first round with a matching score of 5-1against Mark Davis, but he remains cautious.

Sarah Ainsworth is off to the Vancuver Games – she has been told to pack her ski's - see the full interview in this weeks Gazette

Laurence Llewelyn Bowen dropped in to Barylands while filming a new series of ITV1's Gift House. For the episode, aired today at 2pm, a Llewelyn Bowen bought a wrought iron, wall hung coat hook worth £200 for a Brentwood couples home that has recently been converted from a bungalow to a 4 bedroom house.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...

.A mistress of an adviser to President Obama got her own back with billboard posters of herself with Mr Charles E Phillips with the words 'You are my Soul mate'. They could be seen in Times Square New York, Atlanta and San Francisco and you couldn't miss them as they were three storeys high. In total it her a cool £150000!!!!

Hope you enjoyed the show :-)
