PADDINGTON BEAR THE NEW FACE OF ROBERTSON'S
I bet when Michael Bond created Paddington Bear on Christmas Eve 1956 he didn't expect him to be the face of Robertson's Golden Shred marmalade in the hope that he will help reverse the slowly declining fortune of marmalade sales.  Its hoped that the bear will appeal to a new younger generation of Marmalade lovers.  The idea was explored 18 months ago but he was tied in to a contract with Marmite, In the Telegraph Bond's daughter, Karen Jankel, who helps to manage the bear's business affairs alongside entertainment company Chorion, admitted it was "extraordinary" that Paddington had not been signed up by a marmalade company before. As the worlds most famous Marmalade lover I am sure he will be paid by the Jar Full ! !! - Telegraph

EVERYBODY GO SURFING!
Surfers and naturalists travel from across the world to ride the Severn bore, a natural tidal phenomenon that pushes a 4ft wave up the Severn Estuary in Gloucestershire. The phenomenon takes place around 12 times a year during the spring and autumn equinox, when a wave is formed every morning for two or three days.  The wave was the highest of the year so far – peaking at close to 6.5ft (two metres). A vast rush of water is funnelled into the 30-mile estuary's narrow channel – the second highest tidal range in the world. It starts at the mouth of the estuary at Avonmouth near Bristol and reaches as far inland as Gloucester. The wave travels up the river at an average speed of around 10mph. The bore on Tuesday was rated as a "five star" surge which happens about once a year. The biggest bore in the World is the Ch'ient'ang'kian in China which at spring tides reaches a height of up to 25 ft (7.5m) and is reported to last over 14 miles (22km). - Telegraph
