  • COUNCIL bosses plan to axe jobs at a recently re-vamped museum as part of a staffing review. Despite spending £5million on extending and refurbishing Chelmsford Museum, Chelmsford Council has announced plans to reduce staff in an attempt to save money and increase service “efficiency”. The council plans to get rid of two curators at Chelmsford Museums Service, which incorporates Chelmsford Museum, the Essex Regiment Museum and Sandford Mill. The new arrangements would mean the number of curators at the museums would be reduced from five to two. It is thought the posts will go later in the summer. The multi-million pound redevelopment project was completed in January.
