Weekly News

  • A keen actor is set to bare all as he takes the lead in the Full Monty at the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch. Justin Cartledge, 30, of Grays, is playing Jerry Lukowski in the Brentwood Operatic Society’s stage adaptation of the popular film on Sunday, May 2. The show’s director Amy Clayton, 28, is also from Grays. As well as directing, Amy, of Rushdon Close, will also take care of the choreography. Brentwood Operatic Society’s production is based on the American musical version, and tells the story of six steel workers desperate for cash. Seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during a girls’ night out the workers, in Buffalo, New York, come up with the idea to strip to make a quick buck. In the process they find renewed self-esteem and discover the importance of friendship. The society performed the show to a sell-out crowd at the Brentwood Theatre in January. It is not suitable for children. There will be two performances on the day – tickets for the 4pm performance are £16 and for the 8pm show are £20. To book call the theatre box office on 01708 443333.
