I Got A Feelin'.....

.........That Tonight's Gonna Be A GOOD GOOD NIGHT,,,,whoooo hooo
I seem like the stranger I am. Two weeks off air and it feels like a lifetime!! I have thoroughly missed the radio, although have not missed getting up so early....
Anyway my show this Saturday was all about the Black Eyed Peas and dedicated to them..
I had been offered a ticket last minute by a friend, and what an amazing last minute experience it was!!! I wouldn't say, until now that I was overwhelmed by them as a group, nor a huge fan - but I was turned in one night of what was 2 hours of sheer phenomenal excitement at seeing them.
We were super lucky with our seats and its safe to say that I think I even got a slight tinge of vertigo just looking at the audience at the very top of the O2 arena...i almost felt sick for them! (can I use 'safe' in the same sentence as vertigo!?)
Anyway without bragging too much we were at the left of the stage, on the side and I tell you what, I would not have minded at all standing the whole night at the front of the stage. The question is - which part? In fact we did stand the whole time, treating their songs as though this was a mega karaoke affair. I found myself screaming even when no-one actually was. The Mr&Mr couple in front of us were highly amused by my consistent screams and how loud and high my octaves actually were....even i shockingly was surprised.
The stage was great, but what made it super incredible were the addition of the special visual effects, the most malleable dancers and the cat walk style platform in the middle of the stage where Fergie strutted her stuff, as did the entire group and of course, lest i forget - WILL I AM, who did the most AMAZING 20-minute DJ set on his own, with another platform that raised him to some sort of god-like status!
He was amazing - his music was totally unbelieveable, i witnessed what can only be described as one of the most surreal half an hours of my life, where thousands upon thousands of fans (and ones that were new amongst the crowd - inclusive of myself) jumped, literally hypnotised by the amazing selection of music. I have the pain in my feet two days on from it, to prove how hard and fast the entire O2 danced like we were all tranced into a heightened state of sheer excitement, happiness and oblivion. (bar of course the unlucky ones at the top...they would simply have dropped if they had stood up!) (Am not being mean, merely seeing what I could from where i sat, as it didn't appear as if you could dance, let alone get to your seat without pooing in your pants! Tell you what - i think they need seatbelts up fact maybe they do and I just dont know about them!)
(Also, i must add that the snob that I am, this was the first time that I had sat amongst the laymen, as to date I have always had the privilege of the box to watch the concerts from) (Yes, youre totally right, I am a snob)!
Anyway WILL I AM continued to enthral the audience with another set - this time a speedy rap that was only something that you enjoyed at first and then stood with your mouth gaping and just staring at sheer talent has has within him.Oh and did I mention that he also plays piano? It seems endless!!!
This was proceeded by a song each by the members of the Black Eyed Peas. They flew, they rode motorbikes across the arena, they danced, they sweated and their costumes can only be described as of a futuristic era. Sheer brilliance. And their voices - well need I say more.
They sang, we sang, they danced, we danced....
I simply cannot believe that after all this rush of ultimate entertainment at its best that poor Cheryl Cole had been forgotten. She was their supporting act and was on first to do the warm up. I use those words loosely - as her tunes (or 'out of tunes') seemed as though she was rehearsing still (without a live audience!). Ok, ok, that is just simply too mean...she was in all honesty not that bad. Although you could definitely sense that everyone in the arena could feel how slender and just how thin and fragile she looked. On all fronts, I felt the need to go back stage, give her a big hug (if I didn't crush her of course) and offer her a BIG HAPPY MEAL of food. Not necessarily Mc D's. But merely a BIG HAPPY Meal to cheer her up. We are so thoroughly grateful that she has finally seen sense and divorced that rank, disgustingly sick man called Ashley Cole. I cannot even believe i wrote his name on my blog. Furthermore my next question is when is she going to stop calling herself COLE and go back to Tweedy.
Anyway the other question in people's minds was whether or not she was having or still is having this 'thing' with WILL I AM. Well if they were, or are, there certainly wasnt any indication to assume so...they were very 'separate' on stage and kept a respectable distance on their combined track of : 3 words. Sung very well i thought...
Anyhow the excitement was infectious, as was Fergie's 'but*'. She has the most amazing rear end for a lady of her prime age (35 to be exact) (someone dear to my own youthful age). She sings superbly and has this biker chic, stroke beautiful princess, stroke operatic voice that is interchangable and out of this world... I feel that that is all there is to say. She is someone most women would be proud to be!
All in all my listeners and faithful readers - it was an amazing night - one which I shall remember for a very long time. As you can well imagine by now having read this, I am now to become one of their trusted and loyal fans, no matter what (even if Cheryl is having her 'ting' on with WILL I AM, even if Fergie does pee her pants publicly and even if, even now I simply cannot recall the other two band members' names. Forgot there was even a fourth member, who was actually very good too - or is that just me?!)
As a tribute to them in my show and to show my appreciation and respect, I faithfully played two of their tracks for every hour I was live. Or not 'a'live as the case was - i was so tired I cannot believe I acutally made it through the first 2 hours!!
And let me tell you something for free - this will not be the last time. In fact I think it may become a weekly occurrence that I play the Black Eyed Peas....although I am sure that you'll just want me to SHUT UP, JUST SHUT UP SHUT UP!....
Keep it coming BEP's. BOOM BOOM POW....
over and out you crazy people!
