The Blog is back - 14th to the 18th June

I wasn’t here on Monday as I spent the day recovering from the Kids show at the Palladium, and what a day it was. the kids performed their socks off and we are all so pleased that they got a standing ovation - 1st of its kind!!! So I was back in on Tuesday and on cloud 9!  Local Band Missing Andy - who have received support from Ray Winston - are on a whistle stop tour of Essex on Friday 18th June.

Wednesday 15th I was joined by Richard Mcleod from the  Citizens Advice Bureau.
War was  declared on 3 September 1939 as the first 200 bureaux opened on 4 September.  Arrangements for bureaux varied wildly; one even operated out of a horsebox. Seven decades later we are, each year, advising two millions clients on six million problems from 3,300 locations.  Brentwood celebrated its 50th birthday last September and continue to receive more than 13000 issues  with 9000 clients through the door a 20%  increase from last year

Every 3 weeks Richard will be popping in to talk to me about topical problems that residents of Brentwood and the surrounding are a are approaching the Citizens Advice with to gain help and advice
This Morning we will be talking about the support available to those who suffer at the hands of domestic violence and what you should do if you are witness to this behaviour.  Also have you been made redundant as a result of the Credit Crunch, if so we will be giving you some valuable advice about returning to work and supporting yourself and the family during these difficult times.

It was a busy day Thursday...

Darren Bartholomew, County Commissioner for the St John Ambulance, popped in to talk about how you can get involved or learn some essential first aid.  It is run by volunteers and is a great support to the NHS Paramedics particularly at large events.

St John Ambulance has been caring for people for over 900 years and continues to do so not only in England but worldwide with nearly 300,000 members in 42 countries, serving their communities and educating individuals and groups about First Aid.

St John Ambulance are present at most Big events around the UK - which ar the biggest ones that the Essex Division are involved with?
V Festival,  London Marathon, Southend Airshow

Where can the listeners find out more about training for a group or an individual?
You can get a Handy Guide can by texting  Life 85010,  If you have an iphone there is now a Medical App or you can call the County head quarters to find out more about Free Community Taster Courses  01245 265678

I also spoke to Chris Dean who is the MD of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra as they will be presenting The Sounds of Burt Bacharach on Tues 22 June at the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch
A rather groovy evening and the performance will be quite a spectacle, with a full cast of singers, dancers and musicians.

And finally I spoke to Phil Tuffnell on his way to Lakeside to gets Dad’s Dancing This Father’s Day in Nationwide ‘Daddy Dance Off’ Competition
