70's Rock Show - 3rd August 2010

Our special show this week looked at 70's rock stars & their problems, with a little advice thrown in (all a bit tongue-in-cheek though). ELO said "Don't Bring Me Down", then 10cc told of their "Modern Man Blues", which actually showed a happy side to a sad story. Donnie from Chicago reckoned he "Must Have Been Crazy" to have taken so long to find love, whereas the Climax Blues Band "Couldn't Get It Right"...

We had letters from Glenn in The Eagles, Vincent in Alice Cooper, Rodney from Scotland, Nick in The Motors & David (about his 'friend' Ziggy) amongst others. We also had a few tapes/mp3's come in from Paul (Ace), John (Black Sabbath), Glenn in Squeeze (a cautionary tale) & Gordon in The Police. We received some very good advice from Aunty Joan Armatrading to "Show Some Emotion" & there was positive news from Bryan with a "Let's Stick Together" message to his wife, whilst from Benjamin reckoned his girl was "Just What I Needed"...

There were plenty of sad stories too, with Hugh (The Stranglers) saying he never wanted to talk to his ex again, from Meatloaf who said he just couldn't love again after having his heart broken a long time ago & someone from Cardiff recognised he needed help, as he said "I Can't See my Feelings". Steven (from Aerosmith) had something firmly in his cheek when he said his girlfriend love his big ten-inch blues record & Declan said he was desperate to get his girlfriend to come & watch his favourite football team, but she didn't want to go to Chelsea...

Our final piece of advice came from Reg, who sang a lovely song all about the one simple word we should all try to use a little bit more than we probably do, even though it's not easy, we should all make the effort to say sorry…

I'll be away from the airwaves for a couple of weeks, but I'll return on 24th August with two more hours of memories.
