Local Cricket - Looking to the Future

Last Friday we had the pleasure of speaking to two of the figures involved with coaching and assisting younger cricket players on a local level.

John Childs played cricket at every level, including two test match appearances for England.  He is now involved in running the Essex Cricket Academy.  I caught up with him as the Academy side took on the Brentwood first team in a Twenty20 cricket match.  To listen again to the interview, click here.

Julie Welham is responsible for the Brentwood Cricket Club Cults, looking after every level up to the age of 16.  Last time we spoke the Colts were looking to set-up a girls' team.  A year on and the Colts are going from strength to strength.  To listen again to the interview click here.

Stay tuned to Phoenix fm every Friday evening from 8-10 where we'll keep you up to date with the very latest on Brentwood Cricket Club as they bid to win the Essex Premier League title for the second year in a row.
