Body Talk 27th July

What does your face say about you?

No, it's not just the expression that says it all, but the condition of your skin can say a lot about your health.

Pale skin could indicate that you're anaemic. Skin with a bluish tinge could mean there's not enough oxygen in your blood, it could be a sign of asthma or other lung conditions, or, even, worse, heart disease. A yellowish tinge indicates liver problems.

How bright are your eyes? A yellow tinge can be a sign of jaundice. Pale inside lower lids, could indicate anaemia. or a hazy look could be an early warning sign of cataracts.

What do your lips tell you? Dry lips can be a sign that your diet is lacking in protein. Swollen lips can indicate digestive problems. If your moiuth feels tight, your intestines could be suffering. Cuts at the corners of your mouth indicate stress. Dry or inflamed top lip tends to affect people with IBS.

Take a look at your tongue. A swollen tongue could be a sign of fluid retention. If you have a red tip to your tongue, it is a sign that you're under stress. A red, cracked and dry tonguecan be associated with the menopause. A crack down the middle can be a deficiency of vitamin B6 which gets depleted if you're under stress.

So before you go rushing to the beauty therapist or reach for the latest most expensive pot of cream, think about what you're face might be trying to tell you.
