wake me up when September ends (don't really...there's too much great music about!)

This week's Rock The Week saw brand new tracks from the likes of Weezer, Linkin Park and All Time Low!

Weezer - Hurley (released September 13th) ***
The Weezer boys are back with their 3rd album in as many years and while it's not ground-breaking or musically challenging, Hurley is another great rock offering from the Los Angeles quartet.  Vocalist and lyracist, Rivers Cuomo, has an undoubtable natural ability for songwriting, a skill that is apparent throughout the 2010 release.  However, unlike the band's first three albums which took 10 years to write (The Blue Album, Pinkertron and The Green Album), and with more similarities with the two latest Weezer releases (The Red Album and Raditude), Hurley is a record littered with great tracks but lacks consitency.  Not to be disregarded, Weezer have still produced a great album that is well worth checking out for yourselves. Lets just hope they wait a little longer before rushing back into the studio!

Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns (released September 13th) ****
Linkin Park's new release really shows how far the band have come in 10 years: growing musically, lyrically, and mentally both as a band and themselves.  The exploration of instrumentation on A Thousand Suns is noticable yet they don't stray to far from their staple sound, pleasing old and new fans alike - the group have picked up an ample amount of new fans since their house band status for the Transformers movies. A great album that LP fans and rock listeners alike can appreciate, don't miss out on this beautifully melodic yet anthemic album!
