Body Talk 7th September

Try releasing some of that daily tension with a regular yoga practise. You don't have to just practise in the class either. Yoga is about awareness. Being fully involved with what we are doing. Mostly our minds aren't focused on the here and now, we are thinking about what we're going to do next or what  we've just done. When our mind is preparing for the next thing, so is our body, so we remain in a constant state of tension.

Our shoulders hunch and our breathing gets shallower as we rush around doing a million things at once. Then we get home and collapse on the sofa .

Learn to scan your body and see what it is doing. Is your back collapsing? Are you leaning to  one side? Are your shoulders tight? Take a moment to release the tension. Check that you feel evenly balanced. Take a deep breath.

Poor posture is a contributing factor to holding unnecessary muscular and skeletal tension and can lead to health issues. By improving posture we can release a lot of physical tension.

Bringing change to your body in this way can feel strange at first, but soon you'll find the benefits it brings. If you're patient and continue your yoga practise in this way through the day you will find that over time you feel more alive and full of energy.
