New Sunday Breakfast Show

And with a big thank you to Mr James Moloney* for the past three years of the Phoenix FM Sunday Breakfast Show, a new era dawned on 26th September, and I wasn't the only 'Ed' in a new job that day!

The big news story of the morning was the arrival of Ed Milliband as Leader of the Labour Party, and aside from that and the morning headlines, we also discussed the pink cat in Wiltshire, who adorned many of the pages of the morning's newspapers.

So here's how we do it, and what you can expect on Sunday Breakfast.

From 7am, a gentle wake-up call and a look at the major international, national and local news items, a dip into the weeks weather and some of the other issues of the week.

From 8am, we Keep The Faith (which has moved from Wednesday nights) with news and views from the world of religion, faith and our local churches, including the week's International Religous News, which was presented last week by Hilary Medhurst, and included a review of the Pope's visit the previous week. A worship song, hymn or short classical item will play straight after that each week.

A new feature from 9am is the Breakfast Text Request Hour, when you can choose the music, all you need do is keep your phone handy and text in on 07779 298 298 anytime after 7am with your messages - please include your name at the start of your message - texts are charged at your standard network rate.

Our first texters were Ryan, who requested 'All you need is love' - The Beatles, and 'Mummy and Daddy' sent two big kisses to James and cuddly-toy Monkey, to the sound of 'Lost in Music' by Sister Sledge.

From next week (3rd October), we will also have an Album of the Week, playing a track in each hour of the show - first one will be the new album from Maroon 5 'Misery'.

So, see you Sunday mornings from 7am, from here on in.

Ed

PS. *Join James for his NEW weekend show on Phoenix FM, from Sunday 10th October 4pm - 6pm.
