Ash Lewis, Jennie Bond and more

Been a dizzy few weeks for yours truly (that will be me then). I listened back to a few of my shows and I really do talk that quick! I am trying to ease back and slow my chatter down. However, the more excited I am about a subject the quicker I get.
Ash Lewis
It was a pleasure to meet a fabulous new talent, Ash Lewis, who came into the studio to perform two songs live.
This 22 year old from Cogglesham, Essex is a brilliant songwriter/guitarist and looks like a younger hotter version of Robert Patterson (Vampire fans take note). He is also a really lovely guy to interview and genuinely devoted to his craft.
Recently Ash won the award for "Best Male" at the Exposure Music Awards East 2010.
We hope to secure Ash to play in a fundraiser early next year with a host of other equally talented performers.
Brentwood Fire Station
Jeremy Castle from Brentwood Fire Station called in to talk about the Open Day at Brentwood Fire Station.
The Open Day gave locals a chance to see the Fire Station, the crew and watch a few demos too. It was a highly successful day and raised a good deal of money for the Fire Fighters Fund.
The Brents 2010
I was over the moon to be asked to The Brents 2010 and more amazed that Mark Reed asked if I would present an award.
THE best of the borough's actors and actresses were celebrated at the annual Brentwood Theatre Awards.
More than 100 guests gathered at the black tie event to see who would walk away with the coveted gongs.
A total of 14 awards were presented at the glittering ceremony against the backdrop of the town's newly-refurbished theatre.
The event, which rewards the best in local theatre in Brentwood, was co-hosted by Brentwood Theatre president Lord Petre and arts critic and chief awards adjudicator Mary Redman.
Mark spoke to me earlier in the day and mentioned again I was just to go up to the stage (with gold envelope in my hand) and say “the winner is”. No need for a speech, so I did not prepare anything.
The first person up presenting, a rather delicious young actor called Chris Southgate (hubba hubba, eyes so green you could dive in for a swim) stood up to present the first award and was hilarious. Oh dear, I thought.
I managed to pull together a few words, got a laugh and then I left the stage. Ed Wellman and I had a great evening and the interviews we did came out really rather well.
Nigel Clarke – Weekly Gazette Review
Nigel Clarke and Ben popped in to review the Brentwood Gazette, which is now a Wednesday feature.
We pick out a few stories’ that grab the headlines and often read the letters page.
Neither of us holds back when speaking our minds, well I try to!
Mark P Reed – MR THEATRE
Mark, as you may know, runs the Brentwood Theatre, along with the lovely David. I don’t think I have ever seen Mark in a bad mood – I am not sure that he does “bad moods”. He is always upbeat and has an infectious enthusiasm about him.
Mark will be popping in as much as he can to update everyone on “what’s going on at Brentwood Theatre”. If you have never been to the Theatre you are missing a treat. It really does have something for everyone. Plays, musicals, comedy nights, live music, it’s a great venue to hire as well plus a bar!
Coming up soon
Pirates of Penzance 2010 is a hilarious and energetic modern day version of the classic Gilbert and Sullivan musical. The show centres on the love story between Frederic, a young(ish) man about to be realised from his indentured period as a pirate, and Mabel, one of the Major General Stanley’s gym members. But, will the course of true love run smoothly?
Jennie Bond
I interviewed the BBC's Jennie Bond on Monday 4th October with regards to a one hour documentary called The Royals at War which looked at the role of the Royal Family during World War II.
I will post up the interview as I asked if any of the Royals could cook and found out something rather interesting!
No idea what has happened to the Indian summer I promised you but I hope it arrives soon.
