Carolyn Southgate popped in to tell us about Experience China which was taking place today at Brentwood Library in association with the Essex Jiangsu Centre. This was aimed at the whole family and included all sorts of activities such as a Mandarin language taster, origami, traditional calligraphy and a tai chi demonstration – and, like other events put on by the library, it was absolutely free of charge!

I paid a brief tribute to Claire Rayner, who died last week.  As a tireless campaigner for human rights Claire was so much more than just an agony aunt, and I said that she would be missed for both her passion and compassion.

I also made mention of Cliff Richard’s 70th birthday last Thursday, pointing out that when you’ve been in the business for 6 decades you’re bound to have had some hits which haven’t stood the test of time so well as others! I played Some People from Cliff’s 1987 album, Always Guaranteed.

My clues to the Stuck in a moment quiz were that it was the soundtrack to a film in 2000, and that it was covered in 2005 by a girl band.*

My cryptic Where am I? clue to a location somewhere in our area was the question “Are the children taught patchwork?”*

*The answer to Stuck in a moment was Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus. Where am I? was Quilters Junior School in Billericay.
