For Thursday’s Drive blog we get to find out all about Girl Thursday: Pip Edwards.

Pip Edwards- Presenter Information

After leaving Chelmer Valley High School in Chelmsford in 1999, Pip went through University in Wivenhoe Park, Colchester and later studied her GTP to qualify a secondary school teacher.  Between studying and qualifying to teach, Pip worked in a couple of well known retail stores in Chelmsford town centre. She has recently married a Phoenix FM local, a Billericay born man, her partner of the last seven years.

Favourite bands/ artists

I have to confess to being a huge Celine Dion fan in the 1990's, and a self proclaimed followed of former Savage Garden front man, Darren Hayes. I love Darren's voice and his beautiful renditions of classics such as 'Sexual Healing' by the later Marvin Gaye, and 'I Can't Help Falling in Love with You'. I feel that I've made progress, having been a tiny Bros fan, and lover of the classic 'I wanna dance with somebody (who loves me)' by Whitney Houston.

I currently listen to a wide range of music, from Pink to Kings of Leon, Mariah Carey and Lionel Richie.

Favourite singles/tracks

That's such a tricky question to answer, because my favourite song changes depending on mood and the songs that are out in the charts at the time! I do have some all time favourites in the shape of 'Insatiable' by Darren Hayes and 'Like a Prayer' by Madonna. The Immaculate Collection actually holds some of my all time favourite songs! I also like current releases by Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

Favourite albums

My favourite, most listened to albums are probably 'Stripped' by Christina Aquilera, 'I'm not dead' by Pink, and 'Affirmation' by Savage Garden. It would perhaps be more embarrassing to admit once having over-listened to 'The Colour of my Love' by Celine Dion and the Evita sound track, as well as Steps Gold and Moulin Rouge album.

Favourite books

As a historian, I love books by Ken Follett, especially Pillars of the Earth and World Without End. Also worth a read is Kaled Hosseini's Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns- very insightful and eye opening! My favourite book has to be The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostova.

Favourite films and TV

I love a good chick flick or romance, such as The Devil Wears Prada, Grease and Dirty Dancing! Also, I love some quite random choices that desert the normal genre, in Avatar; Devil; 50 First Dates and Kingdom of Heaven.

I love reality TV- quite sorry to see the back of Big Brother though I do think it had run it's course. I also love 'Don't Tell the Bride' and 'Mary Queen of Shops'.

One thing I love

My husband! .... and Manchester United (and yes, I have regularly been to Old Trafford!)

One thing I hate

Bad manners and a lack of respect- dropping litter is a pet hate of mine!
