Live guests can sometimes be like buses... you wait ages for one and then two come along at once. That's the way it rolled on Thursday's Drive.
First up was Michael Corley from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents talking about the end of British Summer Time, ahead of the clocks going back one hour at the weekend. We debated the benefits and drawbacks that British Double Summer Time or British Standard Time would have, two systems that have been fought for for a number of years. There's fresh hope that the campaigns that have seemed never ending will be viewed more favourably with David Cameron stating he will seriously consider proposals.
Following Michael, Mark Reed popped in to chat about the plans for Lighting Up Brentwood 2010, due to take place on Thursday 2nd December. The event has come under some criticism for the seemingly cost-cutting measures of moving from its Saturday home to a weekday evening. Dignitaries in the area have voiced concerns regarding safety with news that the high street will not be closed off. Heading up the organising committee, Mark assured us that this year's switch-on would still be a day that the town centre could be proud of, and was pleased to tell us that the churches would be back on board.
