Jane Granby the Head Teacher from Larchwood Primary School popped in to the studio to talk about the Watoto Children's choir who are visiting the school Thursday morning.  The children have been studying Aftrica and Uganda for the last week and this is an opportunity for the children to see traditional song and dance performed by the Watoto Choir.  This treat comes as the school is going through some major building work to create a new multimedia room, healthy living room and Parents room all of which will provide new teaching opportunities.

Mrs Granby started at the School this term and spent the Christmas break preparing for her new job and familiarising herself with the school.  She has plans to set up an enterprise scheme whereby the children raise money for various local charities and possibly sponsor a Watoto Child .

The rescue fund pools together a total of £627bn (€750bn) from the EFSF, the International Monetary Fund and the EU.

TV CREWS came to Billericay to record popular Channel 4 cookery competition Come Dine With Me.  A production team was in town to film an episode of the series featuring local contestants.

Filming took place in a number of locations, including the Billericay Cookshop in the High Street.   Trevor Draper, the owner of the cook shop, said it was very interesting to see what the crews did when they filmed in his store for about an hour.  Mr Draper said: “It was a little intriguing and also quite exciting to see what they did, because we have never had one in before, or have not been on a set in the past. “It was quite interesting to see the intricacies of filming, like how man takes they had to do or the amount of shots. They also allowed the customers to carry on coming in to do their shopping. They were interested too, and asked me lots of questions about what was happening.”

It is yet to be confirmed when the programme will be show

MUSIC NEWS:

Two of the UK's biggest music labels are to tackle the problem of piracy by releasing singles for sale as soon as they hit the airwaves.  From February 1, Universal and Sony Music - home to acts like Take That and Bruce Springsteen - will start the "On Air, On Sale" policy.  Usually songs are played on radio and TV as a pre-promotion for up to six weeks before they are released for sale.  The practice has gradually become redundant as impatient music lovers go online to listen instantly to new music and often illegally download the songs.  With the new policy, it is hoped fans will be encouraged to buy the song rather than get a pirated copy.  The move follows the success of the X factor in selling the winner's single immediately after the final.   Sky News' entertainment editor Jon Bennett says the music industry has had to modernise and On Air On Sale could re-energise the single charts.
