Evening Echo, By Emma Thomas

THOUSANDS of people have been left out of pocket after a furniture company went bust.

Furniture Today and Mirrors Today, which operated a sales office in Cranes Farm Road, Basildon, is in the hands of an insolvency firm which has warned customers they won’t receive their goods and will have to claim their money back.  Essex County Council Trading Standards has advised people to contact their banks to try to get a refund.  In a statement, it said Furniture Today had ceased trading and gone into creditors voluntary liquidation. It also said any goods ordered would not be delivered.  A Law Society meeting is planned for February 14 when it is expected the company will be put into liquidation.

So tonight there's nothing great to watch but there are a few countdown programmes to have a giggle at.  On BBC 3 at 7pm there is a repeat of the Most Annoying People 2010 - Richard Bacon counts down the most irritating people and events of the year, with celebrities, pop stars and politicians all in the running.  It would be a travesty if Katie Prices wasn't number one!

That is followed  by The 50 Funniest Moments 2010  on Channel 4 at 9pm as Chris Moyles, former Downing Street communications chief Alastair Campbell and stand-up Andi Osho are among the celebrities and comedians looking back on the 50 funniest and most bizarre stories that hit the headlines.

There are a few more options on Saturday night. If you like a magical spell binding movie there is a Night at the Museum starring Ben Stiller on Chanel 4 at 6.55 or there is the action thriller Twister on ITV2 at 6.45. And I can't not mention the comedy awards on Channel 4 at 9pm hosted by Jonathon Ross  - hope fully he will do better than his pal Gervais who was over the pond earlier this week!! - Or should I say in deep water!!!!!!!!

Sunday Movies are a little thin on the ground this weekend unless you have a Movie Package!  there are two Family flicks that you might want to cosy up on the sofa for, Stardust on Channel 4 at 5.10pm which has a eclectic mix of Hollywood stars with a cameo from Ricky Gervais.  And there is The fifth Element on Channel 5 at 5.35pm a sci-fi set in the 23rd Century starring Bruce Willis.  Then if you don't want the weekend to end there is always What happened to Vegas on Channel 4  at 9pm, at the same time Leathal Weapon 2 is on Sky 1.
