Body Talk - 24th July

Tonight,s guest was Catherine Honeywell, a Nutritional Therapist. Catherine's background is in the food industry, where she worked for many years helping the larger companies to prepare the many different delicious ready made meals that we see in the supermarkets. However, they may taste nice but are they that good for us?

Catherine's experience showed her how the processing of food really does strip it of most of it's nutrients. What starts out as beautifully fresh food full of goodness, ends up as something that looks and tastes good, but is really bereft of all the health giving benefits.

It was this knowledge that drew Catherine into the field of Nutritional Therapy. It may be a cliche, but we really are what we eat. If we don't get the right amount of nutrients in the right quantities we can become ill. What is good for one person, also may not be good for another. A visit to Catherine would put you on the right track. She treats the person as a whole, and pays particular attention to lifestyle. It is common for people to hear that they shouldn't eat wheat, for example, but how difficult is that when wheat seems to be a staple part of our diet. Particularly if you are part of a family unit, it becomes very hard to exclude. What Catherine advises is to cut down rather than cut out.

A Nutritional Therapist isn't the same as a dietician, who will put you on a diet if you need to lose weight or cut down on cholestorel for example. A therapist will help you to detoxify your body, correct vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and restore a healthy digestion, helping to prevent future problems as well as encouraging the body to heal itself.

We had a very good discussion and felt that we'd only scratched the surface of this huge subject. If you'd like to find out more about Nutritional Therapy and it's benefits then just email me and I'll pass your details on to Catherine.
