Body Talk - 6th November

I had a guest with a different viewpoint this evening. Instead of being the healer or teacher, Linda Edwards was talking to me about being a patient. Linda has had breast cancer twice, and is a shining example of how good you can feel and how much you can still do with your life against the odds.

The second time around, Linda had to have a mastectomy, and unfortunately her body rejected the implant. She chose not to continue with further surgery, and took the view that she felt complete as she was, it's what's on the inside that matters.

Her journey through was very traumatic, but her strong positivity pulled her through. Linda is also an NLP practitioner, and she worked with some good visualisations to help her body heal itself. One was to get into the shower and imagine that the water was washing her on the inside as well as the outside. She saw her cancer as an intruder, and imagined an industrial hoover cleaning it all up. These visualisation techniques are very powerful and help to keep you calm and relaxed. When the body is calm and relaxed, it is able to heal itself much more readily.

Linda's main gripe after surgery was the lack of decent underwear for ladies with mastectomies. She had to search far and wide for underwear that was both practical and pretty. As she pointed out, women stll want to feel feminine . Linda has lots of ideas on how to improve the underwear situation, but needs an underwear manufacturer to talk to. If you know of one who might be interested, then let me know.
